by November 7th, 2019

Chairman of the Sugar Company Jamaica Holding, Danville Walker has sought to clarify questions about his role in the Greater Bernard Lodge Development Master Plan.

Questions were raised during yesterday’s (November 6) sitting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee of Parliament about the duality of Mr. Walkers role, as he is also Chairman of the National Environment and Planning Agency.

He was appointed Chairman of NEPA in 2016.

The Bernard Lodge Master Plan was a collaborative effort of NEPA and SCJ Holdings.

Mr. Walker in a statement this afternoon (November 7) says between June and July 2017, SCJ Holdings, and NEPA deliberated on and negotiated the cost to complete the Greater Bernard Lodge Development Master Plan.

He added that he joined the SCJ Holdings Board of Directors on April 3, 2018 and was appointed interim chairman on February 1, 2019, pointing out that the greater Bernard Lodge Development Master Plan was approved by cabinet on March 12, 2018.

He emphasised that he joined SCJ Holdings after all matters touching and concerning the finalization of the Greater Bernard Lodge Development Master Plan were concluded.
