A Detective Constable is recovering at hospital, after he was shot and wounded during an operation in the Gregory Park area early this morning (February 27).
Speaking with IRIE FM news, Head of the St. Catherine South Police, Superintendent Christopher Phillips says the Constable who underwent surgery is now recuperating.
Superintendent Phillips says the team is working to find those involved.
He notes that the Gregory Park community, which was plagued by crime and violence earlier this year, seemed to have taken a positive turn.
He laments that this morning’s incident is another indication that criminals persist in their quest to wreak havoc in the community.
