Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Paula Llewellyn has described the guilty verdict for the 17-year-old boy charged with the rape, buggery and murder of a 9-year-old girl in 2018, as a tragedy for all parties involved.

 

The verdict was reached by a six-member jury in the Westmoreland Circuit Court yesterday (July 1).

 

The teen is to be sentenced on July 28, by High Court Judge, Justice Courtney Daye.

 

Speaking with reporters on the verdict, Llewellyn noted that the situation was a moment with negative consequences.

The DPP said the case was properly put before the court.
