Member of Parliament for North West St. Ann, Dr. Dayton Campbell has been re-appointed to the People’s National Party, PNP, shadow cabinet.
Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips announced today (January 7) that Dr. Campbell was appointed as Shadow Minister with responsibility for Special Projects.
Dr. Campbell’s re-appointment comes four months after he resigned as the Opposition Spokesman on Health, following Peter Bunting’s loss to Dr. Phillips in the PNP leadership challenge.
Dr. Campbell was Bunting’s campaign manager.
In a release today, the party said Dr. Campbell’s immediate task is to prepare an implementation programme for priority projects, across all ministries, to be undertaken by the next PNP administration in the first 150 days.
It further stated that the focus of such an implementation schedule is to jump start the process to transform social and economic inequalities which have existed in Jamaica for centuries.
Meantime, Dr. Campbell has welcomed his re-appointment, saying he will work diligently to ensure that the objectives of the role are achieved for the benefit of all Jamaicans.
