Elderly persons who got their Covid vaccine should hear by next week, when they will get the incentive payment.
During the Budget Debate, Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke had announced that persons 60 years and older, who are not in receipt of a pay check, or a pension greater than 1.5 million dollars per year, and who have been vaccinated, will be given a cash grant.
Dr. Clarke had said that as soon as conditions allow, under the Serve Jamaica Programme, the government will roll out a conditional cash transfer for the vaccinated sub-programme, which will benefit about 100,000 persons.
An update on the incentive programme was sought from the Health Ministry during last evening‘s (April 14), Covid Conversations Press Conference.
Permanent Secretary Dunstan Bryan said a meeting is to be held next Monday (April 19) with the Finance Ministry to discuss implementation.
