Entertainment industry mourns death of Dancehall artiste, Unknown Gringo

Industry players, family, friends, and fans are among the social media users sending messages of condolence to Dancehall artiste Unknown Gringo, who was shot and killed during a gun attack in Trelawny today (March 10).

CEO of Chase Mills Records and Entertainment Publicist Claude Mills, who was doing PR for the artiste, has expressed shock.

Meanwhile, Dancehall selector Ricky Trooper via social media wrote, “RIP youth, condolences to your family. Bad dj, really shock me star when me hear the sad news, Naw lie to – you was a promising star.”

According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Unknown Gringo, whose real name is Frantz Morris, was killed by unknown assailants who shot him while he was in his car.

Speaking with Music News Friday (March 10), Commanding Officer for Trelawny, DSP Winston Milton, said the artiste was traveling along the Rock Mainroad in Trelawny at about 12:30 this morning, when unknown assailants who were traveling in another motor vehicle opened fire at him. He lost control of the vehicle which crashed. The men continued firing then went about their business. He was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Unknown Gringo was best remembered for the song, Tank Up.
