Government hopes current rainfall will result in levelling off, of production by April

The agriculture minister has expressed hope, that current rainfall will result in a levelling off, of production, by next month.

This as some farmers are already reporting a dip in production, due to the ongoing drought.

The passage of a frontal system across the island yesterday, caused scattered showers over many parishes.

Speaking during a visit to some farms in St. Elizabeth on Wednesday, Pearnel Charles Junior hoped for continued growth, even if its minimised.

The minister again stressed that steps are being taken to implement a more sustainable irrigation network, to reduce the dependency on rainfall.
