The government is moving to construct ten primary and seven high schools.
Education Minister Ruel Reid made the announcement yesterday (February 5) at a press conference in Kingston.
He said this is to facilitate comfortable and adequate spaces in schools.
He added that suitable sites have been identified for three of the 17 proposed schools, in St. James, Manchester and st. Catherine.
Mr. Reid said a submission has been made to the Public Investment Management Secretariat, PIMSEC, and discussions are being held to secure funds for the pre-contract activities.
