Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Floyd Green says, the government is focusing on creating an environment for more Jamaicans to start businesses.
Speaking on OPM Connect, today Green states that, Jamaicans have a massive entrepreneurial spirit and are very creative.
But, Green says the government has to find ways for citizens to be more accepting of the idea of having their own businesses.
He adds that many persons are afraid to become an entrepreneur because Jamaicans see failure in business, as something negative.
But, he explains that, in other cultures, failure is viewed as a stepping stone to creating more businesses.
He notes that, the government has made many changes to encourage entrepreneurship in the country.
Global Entrepreneurship Week starts today and will end on November 24.
