by December 15th, 2021

In an anticipation of an increased volume of solid waste being generated this Christmas, the Local Government Ministry will be making additional funding available to the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA).

Speaking in Parliament last evening (December 14), Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie said the NSWMA, over the last week, has employed some 500 additional sweepers across the island to ensure regular sweeping of town centres.

The Authority has also engaged over 300 private dumper and garbage trucks to assist in the public health drive, inclusive of the removal of bulky waste.

Mr. McKenzie noted that operations by the NSWMA will continue up until midnight during the yuletide season.

He urged citizens to properly containerize their garbage before putting it out for collection.
