HAJ urges some St. James residents to make outstanding payments in order to collect titles

The Housing Agency of Jamaica HAJ is urging residents of Norwood in St. James to expedite their payments of outstanding mortgages in order to collect their titles.

According to HAJ Managing Director Gary Howell, over a thousand tiles are ready for distribution, but residents of sections of Norwood have not yet completed final payments to have their names affixed to the titles.

He says residents who are experiencing payment difficulties, should visit the HAJ‘s offices where an arrangement can be made to facilitate that process.

Mr. Howell is urging residents to tell the HAJ if persons living in the area have migrated, or have died, as this could help alleviate some of the problems as it relates to land ownership.

He was speaking at a community meeting in Norwood, St. James last evening (January 20).
