The Ministry of Health and Wellness today (January 14) donated some 30,000 antigen test kits to six private labs in support of the national testing effort for Covid-19.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony this morning, Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton noted that the donation is another example of public-private partnership around testing, as part of Jamaica’s Covid-19 response.
The labs which received supplies are Microlabs Limited, Biomedical, MDlink, Winchester Medical, Technological Solutions Limited, and Baywest Wellness.
Dr. Tufton noted that the donation of the test kits will support the labs’ testing beginning Monday, January 18, ahead of the United States’ testing requirements which come into place on January 26.
He encouraged the private labs to engage the tourism sector and other organizations who might need the tests.
Dr. Tufton added that his ministry will work with other stakeholders to facilitate arrangements on behalf of the testing agencies.
