Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton says the arrival of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine in the country will provide more vaccine options for Jamaicans and could help increase inoculations.
200,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine arrived in the country from China recently, with 100,000 of them being donations.
Speaking at the official handing over ceremony this morning (November 24), Dr. Tufton noted that citizens have preferences regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, but he believes with an additional brand in the country, more persons will be willing to get the jab.
Meantime, Ambassador of China to Jamaica, Tian Qui said with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, his country is willing to support Jamaica in combating the virus.
He also sought to assure Jamaicans of the safety and efficacy of the Sinopharm vaccines.
