Ian Fleming International Airport welcomes first scheduled international flight

The Ian Fleming International Airport in Boscobel St. Mary welcomed its first scheduled international flight, on Thursday morning.

The flight, operated by Inter-caribbean Airways originated from the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The flight is to be operated once monthly, connecting some 6,000 Jamaicans living in that country and others to Boscobel.

The expectation is to transition to once weekly flights.

Inter-caribbean Airways pilot Ciro Chacon told Irie Fm news that the inaugural flight had a total of 15 passengers but the plane can accommodate 30.

Meantime mayor of Port Maria, Richard Creary, said regular flights will spark development in the parish.
