The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM is urging the country’s security forces to take the necessary steps to ensure training or retraining in firearm discipline.

Commissioner of INDECOM, Hugh Faulkner made the call while speaking during the commission’s 2021 first quarterly press conference, this morning (May 6).

He says statistics since 2019, have showed several cases of accidental firearm discharge by members of the security forces, which is concerning.

He states that the issue must be adequately addressed.

The commissioner reiterates that law enforcement bodies must report cases involving deaths or injuries.
