by September 7th, 2018

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says the latest Jamaica Health and Lifestyle survey has indicated that Jamaica is moving in the wrong direction with regards to health and wellness.

The survey revealed that almost 685,000 Jamaicans are living with hypertension; 577,000 are obese and more than 236,000 are living with diabetes.

Speaking at the media launch of the survey at the Mona Visitors Lodge this morning, Dr. Tufton said the country must endeavor to use the results of the survey to take bold action that will challenge the status quo.

Dr. Tufton said the country will have to embrace partnerships that will lead to collective action and advocacy that encourages behavioural and lifestyle changes.
