Jamaica recorded 558 new cases yesterday, while hospitalizations up to 418

The country recorded 558 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, pushing the case count to 35,896.


The new cases consist of 315 females and 243 males ranging in age from 10 days to 90 years.


Kingston and St. Andrew had the highest number of cases with 219 followed by St. Catherine with 177.


St. James 30, St. Elizabeth 26, Westmoreland 20, Hanover 19, St. Thomas 15, St. Mary 14, Manchester 11, Portland 10, Clarendon  9  and Trelawny 8 cases


St. Ann was the only parish with no new case.


Meanwhile, 3 deaths were recorded yesterday increasing the death tally to 536.


The deceased are two women from St. Catherine aged 33 and 46 and a 77-year-old male from Westmoreland.


One other death is under investigation.


179 patients recovered and there are 18, 801 active cases.


The number of COVID-19 patients in hospital has jumped to 418 with 37 being critically ill and 65 being moderately ill.
