Jamaica records 1 new Covid-19 related death and 20 new cases

A 50-year-old man from the Corporate Area is the latest Covid-19 casualty.

His death pushes the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 989.

The Health Ministry is also reporting 1 coincidental death.

Meantime, there were 20 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the case count to 49,110.

Of the new cases 13 are females and 7 are males.

Their ages range from 11 to 78 years.

St. James recorded the highest number of cases with 7, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew and St. Catherine with 4 cases each.

Clarendon, Manchester, Portland, St. Elizabeth, St. Thomas and Trelawny recorded no new case.

The positivity rate is 2.9 per cent.

Meantime, 185 more persons have recovered pushing the tally to 27,013.

20,733 cases are active.

156 persons are in hospital, among them are 9 who are critically ill and 26 who are moderately ill.
