Jamaica records 468 COVID-19 cases, the highest daily figure so far

Jamaica recorded 468 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, the highest daily figure so far.


This pushes the country’s case count to 19,773.


Of the new cases, 170 are males and 293 are females, with ages ranging from 3 months to 89 years.


Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 172, St. Catherine followed with 75, Manchester 59, St. James 29, Trelawny 25, St. Mary 22, St. Elizabeth 20, Clarendon 19, Westmoreland 12, St. Ann 11, Hanover 10, Portland 8 and St. Thomas 6.


There are now 6,513 active cases.


No death was recorded, but two deaths are under investigation.


Meanwhile, hospitalizations continue to increase.


258 persons are hospitalized, with 49 patients moderately ill and 19 patents critically ill.


However, 49 more persons have recovered from covid-19, pushing total recoveries to 12,684.
