Jamaica records 8 more Covid-19 related deaths and 211 new cases

Jamaica has recorded 8 more Covid-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 721.

The deceased are an 83-year-male from St. Ann, an 81-year- old male from St. Mary, a 61-year-old male from Portland, a 48-year-old male from Westmoreland and a 51-year-old female from Hanover.

The other three deceased are a 70 year old man and two women ages 82 and 86, all from Kingston and St. Andrew.

One of the deaths was previously under investigation.

The Health Ministry says there was one coincidental death, while 2 deaths are under investigation.

Meantime, 211 new cases were recorded yesterday (April 16), pushing the country’s case count to 43,684.

Of the new cases, 120 are females and 91 are males.

They range in age from 1 year to 104 years.

All parishes recorded new cases.

Kingston and St. Andrew had the highest with 70, followed by St. Catherine with 48.

Meantime, 127 persons have recovered.

23052 cases are active.

347 persons are in hospital, among them are 32 who are critically ill and 26 who are moderately ill.
