Jamaica records 9 more Covid-19 related deaths

Nine more persons have died from the Coronavirus.

The deceased are 8 males- one aged 62 from Portland, 2 aged 68 and 72 from St. Elizabeth, two aged 67 and 68 from Westmoreland, 2 aged 54 and 64 from St. Catherine and one aged 65 from Kingston and St. Andrew.

The lone female aged 82 was from St. Mary.

Their deaths push the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 596.

The Ministry of Health says there were 2 coincidental deaths.

One death is under investigation.

Meantime, 389 new cases were recorded yesterday (March 30).

The Health Ministry says one person died from among the new cases.

Jamaica’s Covid-19 case count now stands at 39,237.

Of the new cases, 209 are females and 180 are males.

Their ages range from 5 months to 98 years.

All parishes recorded new cases.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest with 95, followed by St. Catherine with 61.

Meantime there were 124 recoveries, pushing that tally to 17,598.

20,779 cases are active.

476 persons are in hospital, among them are 39 who are critically ill and 52 are moderately ill.
