Jamaica has recorded a decline in the number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the past 24 hours.
The Health Ministry is reporting that 72 persons tested positive for the virus yesterday, 186 fewer than the 258 persons who tested positive on Sunday.
The country’s case count now stands at 86,456.
Of the new cases, 38 are females and 34 are males.
They range in age from 11 days to 97 years.
All parishes except Portland, St. Elizabeth and St. Mary recorded new cases.
Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 22.
The positivity rate is 13.2 %.
Meantime, Jamaica recorded 9 more deaths, pushing the death tally to 2034.
The deaths occurred between September 18 and October 11.
The deceased lived in St. Elizabeth, St. Catherine, Clarendon and Kingston and St. Andrew.
The Health Ministry says one other death is under investigation.
Hospitalizations also saw a decline, down from 419 to 391.
Among them 94 are moderately ill, 52 are severely ill and 31 are critically ill.
145 more persons have recovered from the virus, pushing total recoveries to 54 thousand, 5 hundred and 69.
There are 29,264 active cases.
