Jamaica sets new daily Covid-19 record, with 527 new cases yesterday

Jamaica yesterday (March 5) recorded 527 new Covid-19 cases- a new daily record.

The country’s case count now stands at 25,303.

Of the new cases, 315 are females and 212 are males, with ages ranging from 1 to 95 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew had the highest case count with 149, followed by St. Catherine with 98, then St. James with 76; Clarendon had 51, St. Thomas 30, Manchester 26, St. Ann 18, Portland 17, Hanover 15, St. Elizabeth and Trelawny had 14 each, Westmoreland had 10, while st. Mary had 9 cases.

The Health Ministry also recorded 3 more Covid related deaths yesterday, pushing the tally to 446.

The deceased are a 91-year-old female and a 48-year-old male both from St. Ann, as well as a 76-year-old male from St. Catherine, whose death was previously under investigation.

The Health Ministry said one other death is now under investigation.

Meantime, 147 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 14,159.

10,469 cases are active.

287 persons are in hospital, among them 30 who are critically ill and 29 who are moderately ill.
