JHTA President not aware of effects of Sargassum seaweed on hotels in St. Mary

by November 5th, 2018

The Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, says it’s not aware of reports of adverse effects on hotels from Sargassum seaweed, along sections of the coast in St. Mary.

JHTA President, Omar Robinson, says hoteliers should continue to monitor the situation, and conduct clean-up where necessary.

The brown seaweed, while smelly and unsightly, is not a threat.

It is however, an annoyance to some fisher folk, and tourism interests.
