General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party, Dr. Horace Chang is to formally meet with Member of Parliament for Westmoreland Central, George Wright this afternoon (April 15), to get a full briefing and discuss allegations in the public domain.
Mr. Wright was questioned and later released by police at the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay St. James, yesterday (April 14).
He was reportedly questioned in relation to an alleged assault incident, a video of which has gone viral on social media.
In the wake of public outcry at the video, the police expressed an interest in speaking with Mr. Wright.
The Jamaica Labour Party had also urged Wright to make himself available to the police.
The Opposition had sought to have Wright suspended from parliament, but this action was blocked by the House Speaker.
In a statement today, the JLP says after today’s meeting with Mr. Wright, a report will be made to the caucus of MPs who are also slated to meet later this evening.
The party assures that the public will be kept informed of the outcome of the internal deliberations.
