The governing Jamaica Labour Party JLP, says it is categorically rejecting as reckless and false, a claim made today (April 3) by the People’s National Party, PNP and its chairman, Fitz Jackson, that a shooting in East Portland may be connected to vote buying.
In a statement today, the JLP says it has been at the forefront of the struggles to secure the rights of citizens and repudiates the very notion of vote buying.
Additionally, the JLP says its rejects all acts of violence in the strongest terms.
It adds that several acts of aggression and violence which have been perpetrated against JLP supporters in East Portland have been reported to the police.
Head of Communications in the JLP Mathew Samuda says its campaign in Eastern Portland has been conducted with civility and decency.
