The National Workers Union (NWU) says workers at the Jamaica Public Service (JPS), are restive following the reduction of a special discount offered to employees and pensioners on their JPS bills.
NWU General Secretary Granville Valentine, says despite several attempts by unions to engage the company, managers at JPS have failed to meet with unions and have implemented the changes which include a 25% reduction in the employee discount as at July.
Mr. Valentine says the unions representing employees at the company met with over 300 of their members yesterday to discuss the way forward.
He says the unions have agreed that it will take decisive action to have the JPS decision reversed.
Mr. Valentine says he is calling on the government to intervene.
JPS plans to eliminate the special discount to workers come January.
