The Jamaica Teachers Association, JTA has called for an apology from Prime Minister Andrew Holness, following statements about the standard of operation of some schools.

Speaking at the launch of the Education Transformation Commission last week, Mr. Holness said many schools are operating at the standard of daycare centres.

JTA President Owen Speid, says the JTA is not pleased with this statement, adding that the nation’s teachers are disgruntled.

He called on the Prime Minister to apologize immediately.

Mr. Speid was speaking on Irie Fm’s Africa Forum, with host Ka’bu Ma’at Kheru, yesterday (July 26).
