President of the Jamaica Teacher’s Association, J-T-A, Owen Speid is expressing concern that several schools are yet to receive their full complement of text books from the Education Ministry, for the 2019/20 academic year.

Speaking in an interview with Irie Fm News, Mr. Speid lamented that the ministry has been slow in distributing text books to several schools across both the primary and high school levels.

Mr. Speid notes that in one particular school, students who will be sitting the Caribbean Examination Council’s, Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate, C-SEC examinations next year, are still waiting on books to be delivered by the ministry.

He says not only are the numbers short, in some schools entire grade levels are without books.
