It will take a budget of just about 40 million dollars to host this year’s staging of the JAAA’S National Junior and Senior Championships which runs off over four days starting tomorrow at the National Stadium.

The ministry of sports through the Sports Development Foundation( SDF) is set to offset 25 million dollars as was disclosed by Sports Minister Olivia Babsy’ Grange at yesterday’s launch at the offices of the JAAA’S.

Chairman of the organizing Committee Ludlow Watts explains the magnitude of the cost regarding the event and to send teams to the various international events.

Meanwhile a total of 597 athletes have been registered for the meet which has some 60 events, and  which will be used to select Jamaica’s teams for a number of International events this summer.

The International events include the World Championships in Eugene Oregon, the World Under 20 Championships in Cali Colombia, the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the Caribbean under 23 games in Guadeloupe and the NACAC Senior Championships in Bahamas in August.

There has been a slight  adjustment to the start time of the schedule of events.
