Justice Minister says there will be no relief for motorists who fail to clear outstanding tickets by January 31

Justice Minister Delroy Chuck says there will be no relief for motorists who fail to clear their outstanding traffic tickets by January 31.

Thousands of motorists have outstanding tickets and have been warned to pay the fines by next month end to have demerit points waived.

The New Road Traffic Act is to be implemented in February and the authorities have said they will be stepping up enforcement in the new year.

Mr.  Chuck says the disorderly or chaotic behaviour on the roads cannot be tolerated.

Meantime, early next year, an electronic traffic ticketing system will be utilized by the police.

Mr. Chuck states that the system will allow traffic cops to check for outstanding tickets among other things.

He says motorists can check with the police if they have outstanding tickets.
