Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation Dr Horace Chang, says money allocated for the trucking of water in some constituencies is not being used.
Addressing the Standing Finance Committee yesterday, Dr. Chang stated that there is an excess of $18 million available that has not been used for trucking water.
Responding to concerns raised by opposition Spokesperson on Transport Mikeal Phillips, who stated that schools have to conduct fund raising activities, in order to truck water, Dr Chang stated that this should not be the case, because the local authorities in most parishes have the money available to do so.
He notes that the cash is not sent to the local authorities but no invoice has been sent to the ministry to claim money needed for trucking water.
Dr Chang says the schools can call the local authorities to get water.
