Local Gov’t Minister, Desmond McKenzie says some persons associated with Rick’s Cafe charged, following recent illegal party

Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie has indicated that charges have been laid against persons associated with Rick’s Cafe in Negril, Westmoreland, following an illegal party at the venue recently.

 

He made the disclosure during a post-Cabinet press briefing this morning (June 9).

 

He noted, however, that he was unable to release the names of the persons charged.

 

 

Yesterday, the Minister announced that Rick’s Cafe, which was ordered closed for breaches of the COVID-19 protocols, has been given permission to resume business.

 

He detailed the process which led to the decision.

 

 

Meantime Mr. McKenzie says one other establishment in Negril is suspected to be in breach of the Disaster Risk Management Act, DRMA

 

Mr. Mckenzie says the Ministry will present a report on the findings of the incident to Prime Minister Andrew Holness next week.
