Mayor of Spanish Town calls for public enquiry into controversial police shooting

by May 12th, 2019

Mayor of Spanish Town, Norman Scott, is calling for a public enquiry, to establish truth, in the recent police shooting in Chedwin Park, in St. Catherine.

He was referring to the recent shooting involving three police officers, and an off-duty lawman, where one member of the security forces was killed, and two civilians left dead.

Mr. Scott, says lives have been lost in the shootings, and although it involved police personnel, their accounts are conflicting.

He says, the enquiry would provide a safe avenue, for persons who witnessed the two incidents, where one police officer died, and two civilians, to say what happened.

He argues, that persons do not trust the police, and as such, they are not going to cooperate with investigators, probing the killings.
