by September 14th, 2021

The Health Ministry says there has been an uptick in all species of mosquitos following recent rains .

Director of Environmental Health in the Ministry of Health, Everton Baker says with the rains, there will be a drastic increase in the number of adult mosquitos.

He explains that a number of measures are being ramped up in the enhanced programme to rid communities of mosquitos.

Mr. Baker says vector control workers have access to an increased number of fogging machines and the ministry has engaged about 500 temporary workers to support the programme.

He is urging Jamaicans to play their part in ridding their homes of mosquito breeding sites.
