MET office issues Flash Flood Watch and Warning for several parishes

The Meteorological Service has issued a flash flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of st. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, and Clarendon.

Meanwhile, a flash flood watch has been issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Manchester, St. Elizabeth, and Westmoreland.

The advisories are effective until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow.

A flash flood warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly, while a flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures.

Tropical storm Ian is currently located 390 kilometres south-southwest of Negril point, Jamaica.

It is expected to move southwest of Jamaica on Sunday and be across the northwestern Caribbean by Monday.
