The Nurses Association of Jamaica, NAJ, says several of its members are expressing concern for their safety, following the death of an individual who recently took the Covid-19 vaccine.
President of the Association, Patsy Edwards-Henry says the nurse who administered the vaccine began receiving threats after veteran journalist, Michael Sharpe was hospitalised after receiving the shot.
Mrs. Edwards Henry, says the threats have become more serious since Mr. Sharpe’s death on Tuesday (April 20) and other nurses are expressing fear.
She says efforts are being made to ensure the safety of all nurses.
And Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has chastised persons who have reportedly threatened to harm health care workers, on the basis of incorrect information.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday (April 21) Dr. Tufton noted that while people are entitled to their opinions, the abuse of health care workers will not be tolerated.
