Narcotics Police Make Second Multi-Million Dollar Ganja Seizure This Week

For the second time this week, the narcotics police have made another multi-million dollar ganja seizure.


About 2,000 pounds of compressed ganja, with an estimated value of 10 million dollars was seized during an operation in Reading, St. James yesterday.


Reports are that about 12:10 AM, police conducted a search at a premises and a number of knitted bags containing compressed ganja and hash oil weighing approximately 2,000 pounds were found.


Several men were seen fleeing the scene on arrival of the police.


One man was held by the team.


He was taken into custody in connection with the seizure. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations


The drug is believed to have been prepared for export.

On Tuesday police seized 800 pounds of compressed ganja at Milk River in Clarendon.


The drug was seized during an operation in mangroves at Farquharson Beach.


Fourteen drums of fuel were also found. The drugs have an estimated street value of 3.2 million dollars.
