by May 8th, 2021

Chairman of the National Health Fund, N-H-F, Howard Mitchell, is hopeful that emergency approval by the World Health Organization, WHO for the Covid vaccine made by China, will open up another option for Jamaica to obtain vaccines.

The WHO granted approval for use of the vaccine yesterday (May 7).

Mr. Mitchell says the approval is good news.

Meantime he says Jamaica is expected to receive doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine in August, a month later than previously announced.

And Mr. Mitchell says Jamaica continues talks with other vaccine manufacturers.
