NIA insists Education Ministry be held accountable for questionable transactions involving officials from the Ministry and JCTE

by October 13th, 2021

The National Integrity Action (NIA) is insisting that the Education Ministry be held accountable for the questionable transactions involving officials from the Ministry and the Joint Committee for Tertiary Education (JCTE).

This follows a report tabled in Parliament by the Auditor General yesterday (October 12), which highlighted several issues, including how over $120 million was spent by the JCTE.

Principal Director of the NIA, Professor Trevor Munroe said a surcharge should be imposed on the responsible public officers.

Professor Munroe is also calling for the Government to approve regulations aimed at reducing nepotism in appointments to the boards of public bodies.
