Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, (NSWMA), Audley Gordon says the agency is severely short of trucks, which is impacting garbage collection.
There have been complaints about the backlog in garbage collection.
Mr Gordon says the situation is very bad in most areas.
Mr Gordon says the agency has 110 trucks, 40% of which is inoperable.
He says the 60 working trucks are supplemented by trucks which are contracted, and are in use daily.
He underscores the need for proper funding of solid waste management.
He was speaking at parliaments public administration and appropriations committee meeting, on Tuesday.
