NSWMA head welcomes upgrading of sanitation workers to permanent employees

Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), Audley Gordon, has welcomed the announcement from government that sanitation workers employed to the agency are to be upgraded to permanent employees.

The workers are currently employed under renewable fixed term contracts.

Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke in his budget debate last week, noted that some 2,000 NSWMA workers would be upgraded in the fiscal year 2023-2024, once they have completed the necessary probationary periods.

The NSWMA Executive Director reacted to the announcement while speaking with IRIE FM News this morning (March 14).

He said the move will impact the workers in many positive ways, and they are elated.
