The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) has implemented measures to improve garbage collection in the coming months.
Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie says the Agency will do what is necessary to ensure garbage is collected at least once per week.
He explains that there are challenges, among which is an insufficient number of trucks.
Mr. McKenzie says 50 trucks are to be acquired.
He says Jamaica’s challenge is not the efficiency of garbage collection but a disregard for the systems.
The Local Government Minister notes that efforts are being made to improve collection.
