Nurses Sign Four Year Wage Deal With Government

After a protracted negotiating period, the nurses have finally inked their 4 year wage deal with government.


The signing ceremony took place today (September 12) at the Finance Ministry’s offices in Kingston.


President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, Carmen Johnson, expressed satisfaction with the wage negotiations coming to a conclusion.


Meantime, Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke said with the signing of the agreement with the nurses, approximately 80% of public sector workers are now covered under a four-year wage agreement.


Dr. Clarke said the discussions with the Nurses Association of Jamaica were conducted in an atmosphere of transparency and mutual respect.


The wage agreement with the nurses includes benefits such as the provision of a 30 seater bus.



And the nurses also get increases in scholarships and tertiary grants.
