The National Works Agency, N-W-A says work on the Savage Pen Roadway, in St. Andrew could take another 4 days to be completed.
Work on the roadway which will serve as the alternative route to the Gordon Town Road which broke away last year, began yesterday (January 17).
The N-W-A says the project involves the cutting, widening and reshaping of the roadway, drainage improvement, the construction of retaining walls and the installation of guard-rails where necessary.
The roadway which is 1.6 kilometres in length will be paved with asphaltic concrete.
Speaking with Irie Fm News, Communications and Customer Services Manager, at the NWA Stephen Shaw, said work will continue throughout the week and as such, the Savage Pen Road will be closed to motorists between 9am and 6 pm.
He is also urging drivers of certain motor vehicles not to use the corridor.
Mr. Shaw suggests that persons utilise the New Castle route.
