Opposition calls for more impactful sixth form programme

Opposition Spokesman on Education, Damion Crawford is calling on the government to engage its stakeholders to negotiate a more impactful sixth form pathways programme.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Mr Crawford said the programme, in its current format, is not working.

Mr Crawford said the opposition is concerned about the poor and uncertain implementation of the sixth form programme.

Mr Crawford said the needs of Jamaican students are too varied for a seven-year secondary experience to be limited to sixth forms.

He encouraged the Ministry of Education to engage the Jamaica Teachers’ Association and school principals to negotiate a more impactful seven-year experience that will consider the needs of each child and the school.
