The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has welcomed calls from Political Ombudsman, Donna Parchment Brown for the Prime Minister to halt road works in East Portland.
Yesterday (March 12), the Political Ombudsman said she would write to the Prime Minister following statements made by the Jamaica Labour Party, Chairman at a public meeting where he allegedly referenced road works carried out by East Portland by-election candidate, Ann Marie Vaz.
The Political Ombudsman says it is improper for works to be done as part of a campaign.
Speaking with Irie Fm News this morning (March 13), PNP General Secretary Julian Robinson said his party supports the ombudsman’s calls for all road work to be halted until after the by-election.
Mr. Robinson said a number of issues have arisen based on information he has received.
