Patching works yet to start in 12 constituencies, despite MPs having received $7M project grants

by January 23rd, 2021

Despite receiving a seven million dollar grant, to carry out patching works last Christmas, 12 Members of Parliament have not yet started any work in their respective constituencies.

The revelation was made by Chief Executive Officer of the National Works Agency, E.G Hunter, in Thursdays (January 21) sitting of Parliament’s Public Administration and Appropriations Committee, PAAC.

Mr. Hunter noted that each of the country’s 63 constituencies was gifted a minimum of 7 million dollars for patching under the Christmas Work Programme.

He said less than a quarter of the constituencies have used the full provision for works.

The disclosure was met with surprise from PAAC Chairman Mikael Phillips, who called on the Members of Parliament to complete the works as soon as possible, in an effort to provide relief for the travelling public.
