PIOJ’s Director-General says recent industrial action taken by NWC workers led to losses amounting to $240M

The recent industrial action taken by workers at the National Water Commission led to losses amounting to 240 million dollars for the company.

That’s according to Director-General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) Dr. Wayne Henry.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday (June 1), Dr. Henry noted that the PIOJ is still assessing the impact of the disruptions in both air travel and water services.

He noted that the institute has received preliminary data on the impact of the industrial action on the output of the water supply sub-industry.

Dr Henry said assessments are still being done, and a more comprehensive update will be provided later.
