Jamaican fathers are playing a greater role in the lives of their young children.
That’s according to Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
Addressing a father’s day event being held under the theme ‘Furthering healthy families with fathers’, Mr. Holness noted that the Jamaican society is going through a period of unprecedented change.
This he said, includes changes in principles, morality and what citizens see as important.
He noted that these changes in outlook and perspective have also impacted the family.
The Prime Minister said he is happy to see more fathers participating in activities, such as taking their children to school.
He commented on the changing gender roles, noting that many fathers are now staying home to take care of their children.
